Itinerary
Day 1 – FLIGHT LONDON – MEMPHIS (via a US ‘gateway’ city) The Memorial Tour starts with check-in for the flight from London Gatwick Airport to Memphis. On arrival you’ll board the waiting coach for the transfer to the Doubletree Hotel Downtown.
Day 2 – TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI A super day in Tupelo. Drive to Tupelo for a short sightseeing tour which will include many of the places significant in Elvis’ early years – the church and schools he attended, Tupelo Hardware Store which supplied his first guitar, what remains of the Fairgrounds and, of course, the Birthplace, the humble home where he was born.
Elvis Presley Birthplace The Elvis Presley Birthplace is part of the Elvis Presley Centre including the Elvis Presley Museum, Memorial Chapel and Elvis Presley Park. The museum houses a collection of long-hidden treasures from Elvis’ early life as well as his illustrious career. Themed ‘Times and Things Remembered’, the museum contains hundreds of articles of clothing and personal mementos such as motorcycle boots and a jumpsuit from Elvis’ Las Vegas act. Afternoon free for you to soak up the atmosphere of this small Mississippi town before returning to Memphis and your hotel.
Day 3 to Day 8 – MEMPHIS INCLUDING PLATINUM TOUR, SIGHTSEING AND TIME AT LEISUREOn one day you will enjoy the Platinum Tour of Graceland. Spend as much time as you wish at Graceland as the Shuttle Bus service will operate throughout the day and evening. You will also have five full days at leisure in Memphis.
Memphis is a fascinating city to explore. In addition to all the Elvis sights you might want to visit Beale Street, the birthplace of The Blues. Here you’ll find the music bars which still play the Blues and Schwabs, an amazing department store that sells everything and whose motto is, ‘If we ain’t got it, you don’t need it’!
During your stay you’ll enjoy a guided Elvis sightseeing tour of Memphis which includes visits to Humes High School and Sun Recording Studios. On the night of the 15th August you can join thousands of other Elvis fans from all over the globe for the candlelight vigil and, the next day, the Anniversary of Elvis’ death you’ll probably wish to return to Graceland to view the floral tributes.
Most evenings in Memphis there will be special events planned in association with Graceland. These usually include concerts, Sock Hops and discos. (Details of these events will be advised to you in due course).
Day 9 – FLIGHT TO UK (via US ‘gateway’ city) At leisure until the transfer to the airport for the flights back to the UK.
Day 10 – ARRIVAL IN LONDON Early morning arrival into London Gatwick Airport.
