The Memphis Mafia dispute Tommy's claims

Close friends of Elvis Presley and Members of his Memphis Mafia, Marty Lacker and Lamar Fike have publicly disputed Tommy Steele's claims that Elvis made a secret visit to the UK.

In an interview with the BBC News website, Lamar said "I was with him the whole time.  I got there two days after he got there. He was confined to base."

Lamar was friends with Elvis since his early days of stardom and also travelled to Germany with the singer, when Elvis was stationed there during his two-year army stint.  Lamar is also releasing a book this year entitled An Uncommon Journey, which details his friendship with Elvis over the years.  The book has also sparked interest from several movie studios as well.

As for Elvis' secret visit to London, fans have also been disputing Tommy's claims since the news broke last week and despite all the media attention, not one photograph or further evidence has surfaced.
